Earthquake

I forgot to mention on my previous note that there was an earthquake in Melbourne last week. It lasted about 30 seconds and everyone felt it except me! It was magnitude 5.4 or so but didn't do much of a damage. Afterwards it was all over the news for days and they made a massive deal about it and people sent pics on the papers.. check out this link its so silly. There is pictures of few cd's on the floor at someones house or few paintings a bit wonky on the wall.. OMG!

I finally booked my flight back to Brissy as heading off to Auckland on the 25th of July. Still haven't made any plans what to do or where to stay etc whilst in NZ but reckon will just decide whilst I'm there. Think will go round the north island and then fly back here and go do south in the summer instead. Not much have happened recently as trying not to use money to be able to travel for few weeks. So many things I need money for.. saving for the visa as well, maybe buying a bicycle, getting a tattoo, flying to visit Finland and England next year etc.. But surely soon as the spring and summer comes I will be able to do many fun activities for cheap.

I had some bday drinks on Saturday, way too much red wine and other drinks.. The next day I looked like death and felt like one too. Even had to be sick outside of Aldi and got spew on my boots and must have been looking so bad a stranger offered me a chewing gum :) So embarrassing but kinda funny too. Poor Alex had to do most of the shopping alone. We decided to have dry July to save money and health. Just eating healthy and going to the gym, that's my master plan. Might even start week early as there is some movies out I would like to go and see on sat night. Anyways sorry AGAIN I've been so lazy writing here and now it's a struggle to remember what I wanted to say in the first place.

Btw well excited about new Batman and Spiderman movies! Think my money will be spent on cinema and popcorn next month!

Red Red Wine

It was my birthday yesterday I'm now 25 and still not feeling old :) Although slight panic crossed my brain when Luke was taking the piss this morning saying I am 25 still no proper job, no kids, no home and no money..(and with a black eye).. then he added that my mum must be proud! Haha brilliant! To be honest I'm not too worried, I will get to the adulthood eventually. It just takes a bit more time and effort.

For my bday we booked a winery tour to Yarra Valley. The tour bus took us to four different wineries, all of them were pretty good and the scenery was absolutely amazing. We tasted approx. 30 different wines and also had lunch at Rochford winery. Was very lucky it was mostly sunny as today it has been pouring down all day. After drinking wines all day we felt quite knackered so it was nice to come home and almost straight to the dinner table. Al's mum Sally had cooked me a bday meal and a chocolate cake! Great! And there was packages waiting for me from Finland. All in all very happy day and was glad I got to spend it with Alex <3

First winery was called Yering Station.

Next we went to Rochford Club and tasted about 10 wines and had nice salmon with purple(!)potatoes for lunch.
At Rochford winery

3rd winery was called Yering Farm, it was a bit smaller than the other wineries and for that reason had much more character. According to Al the wines weren't as good as the other one but I think some of them were good enough. Maybe after tasting so many wines they all start to taste a bit similar.

Last place was Chandon were they make a lot of sparkling wines. One of the vintage sparklings were made with a similar method to Champagne and have to say that was really nice. Wanted to buy a bottle but it's slightly too expansive for me at the moment.

Almost forgot.. here is also a pic of the mirror Al made me for my bday. Linda had an old chest of drawers and I liked the mirror so Al took the mirror off and added the knobs to it so I can hang up stuff. It is so pretty and there is even little pink flowers on the knobs! Thank you so much!!

Where is my Mind

Drunk bowling = sol, strongbow, bourbon, pizza and some strikes.

Jenn you look so SMOKIN'

After bowling on our way to get a taxi Linda and I found a shopping trolley and obviously I jumped in.. the worst idea ever! I remember saying "what ever happens DO NOT let go" (famous last words).. and it all went fine for a while until Angus took over. To be fair I had a massive laugh whilst he was spinning me around but unfortunately he couldn't hold on and the trolley went down the hill and fell over me going face first on the concrete. Good thing I was drunk so kept laughing thru the whole episode. My forehead was bleeding a bit but it didn't seem to be too bad until the next morning when I couldn't open my eye and the colour was deep purple, also got some bruises on my arms and legs.

Here is some fine pictures of my face (looking way too happy), mum if you see this do not freak out as I am fine and not in pain or no inner bleeding etc!

Brighton Beach

It's been very sunny and warm day so we went to the Brighton beach! Was very excited to go there as needed to check if it's anything like the one I used to live near by. The plan was to get some ice cream on the way but for our surprise none of the ice cream shops were open.. ended up getting burgers instead :)

Bourbon Street

As you might expect from me there's been some parties too. The most recent one is Alex's cousins 30th bday.

Angus & Linda
Nic & Tom

It's not all just partying, I have actually been going to the gym to keep healthy and trying to quit chocolate.. that is quite a mission. Never used to eat as much chocolate as I do now whilst been with Al. Well I bet he haven't drank that much Tequila before met me either :)

Tomoko

Last time I was in Australia I met this nice Japanese girl Tomoko. We had such a laugh and shared (and caused) a lot of drama those days. We have been in touch over the four years but haven't actually been able to meet until now. I was planning to go to meet her in Tokyo in 2009 but she met Zane in Melbourne and decided to ditch her life in Japan and move to Australia permanently. As I am staying in Melbs now it is nice to see some familiar faces and share some of the past times.

And as it happened to be Tomoko's bday few weeks ago I met her husband, baby Coco and some of her friends too. Now we are all trying to meet regularly and catch up with all the lost years. Next Saturday they are having me and Al over for Japanese/Korean bbq! Exciting!

Friends for life, love you lots chica!

Castlemaine

Have been busy with things so haven't got round to writing here for awhile. And to be honest I'm pretty lazy sometimes too.. Sorry about that, will try to keep on top of this from now on.

As it has been so long since the last time I wrote I might have forgotten something but I'll try to do my best. It's also hard to concentrate at the moment as I am trying not to laugh when Al's dad John is watching footy (I think its football but might be politics too)as he is so passionate about it.. I can just hear this swearing and shouting etc it is quite funny :))

I've visited a small town called Castlemaine for few times within recent weeks as Al's mum and brother are thinking about buying a house from there. Also been playing with an idea of opening a vegan/vegetarian cafe there. Castlemaine is a former gold mining town with population of 8000 although they get quite a few visitors. Loving the houses and tiny shops, also the atmosphere is quite chilled and friendly. Seems like the sun is always shining in Castlemaine. There is also an old prison for sale, how cool would that be as a hostel!!

I don't know if I would be able to live there for a long term basis as not used to such a small town. I even consider Varkaus or Joensuu (towns in Finland I have lived in the past) small and they got population of 26 000 to 36 000. But we did see some nice houses with massive gardens surrounded by beautiful scenery so if they end up buying the house I am happy to spend time there every now and then.
