Beginning of Thailand adventure

We spent a week just drinking and eating. We also got a scooter so been going around the island. It was very expensive to stay in a guesthouse for so long but luckily we now managed to find a house near work. We used to drive to work for about 20 mins and after we had a little accident with the bike I was freaking out after every hill or turn so Im glad it now only takes about 2 mins to get to the office. I probably should say the accident was very small, it was due to heavy rain and we were going down the hill, the bike just disappeared under me and I landed on my bum and Alex kept sliding with the bike for bit. We lost one mirror and got some other minor issues with the bike but so far only cost less than a dollar to fix. I got black bum and sore muscles, took a week till I was able to lift my leg normally. Alex got little scratch on his arm and one ruined shirt due to bleeding. We are now extra careful.

Work is pretty hard at the moment as feels like there is not enough customers and there is so many other people working as well. Hoping the high season will make it a bit more easier as otherwise we are fucked as money will run out and would need to make plan b. Which wont be easy either as I cant go to Australia and it will be cold everywhere else. But fingers crossed things will get better. As we work outside been getting a lot of sun and some burns too. The other day managed to get a sun stroke, was so awful had to even take a day off from work. Anyway now a bit tired and want to go to eat my popcorn so will add few more photos and write more one day.

Hanoi Rocks

I'm trying to take a break from this heat and write a little bit about our journey to Vietnam. Actually I think the pictures will tell more so will keep this quite short (other way of saying I just cant be bothered hehe). 

It was really busy in Hanoi, the traffic was mental. The only way of crossing the road was to walk in front of the traffic and hope for the best or just stare the drivers in the eye, apparently you are then less likely to be run over. Well seems like we managed to survive and even had some scooter rides there too. 

The trip didn't really start so well as Alex got his laptop stolen on the first night..boo. Well actually he left it in the taxi and then the taxi driver refused to give it back as he didn't wanna seem criminal and he thought the police would be waiting for him if he brings the laptop back. So hopefully Als insurance will cover that then. Food was amazing, even if not always sure what I was eating. Had few quite unique (bad) flavors and also got quite sick for few days. Alex even ate some dog! Few hours later he was spewing all over the city hehe maybe not the best meat to eat whilst hangover :) They had so many tiny restaurants out on the streets where you had to sit on these tiny tiny stools. Everyone always laughed at Al as he is way too tall for that, even I was struggling sometimes. But all in all it was quite and experience. And cheap as chips. Oh and they had Bia Hoi places where they serve the worlds cheapest beer, we had 46 beers and quite a lot foor dor less than 30AUD! 

The day after tens of Bia hois Als friend took as to meet his family to the country side. They prepared many dishes and we all ate on the floor. As a man Alex had to have drink-offs with the men. I was super hangover so happy they didn't force the girls to drink, even eating was a struggle but tried to be polite and try as much as I could (skipped the dog and the chicken legs). People dried rice on the floor our side.. all the dogs just kept walking on it and people driving scooters on top of it.

 

 

And before heading to Thailand we did a little day trip to Halong Bay to see some islands and a fishing village.

I recommend a holiday in Vietnam, its different, its cheap, its warm and there is plenty of beer.
